New Coffee Partnership
September 28, 2015

Dark_Woods_Logo-4-3-page-001We are really excited to announce a new partnership that will bring fantastic coffees to customers via the best growers and roasters.  Bean & Bud and Dark Woods Coffee are launching a partnership that will see Dark Woods coffee featured as our ‘house roaster’.  We will still continue to use a couple of other highly regarded speciality roasters alongside Dark Woods, who will feature on a regular basis on our changing coffee menu, bringing customers some exceptional coffees, with exceptional stories of the people who grow the coffee, establishing connections between grower and consumer.

The relationship already goes back some way. Ruth Hampson, co-owner of Bean & Bud and Ian Agnew, co-owner of Dark Woods Coffee, have been acquaintances for many years through their links to ethical trading movements. Bean & Bud have also been firm friends with Damian Blackburn, another co-owner of Dark Woods, since his days as head roaster with another large coffee company.

IMAG0370 smallIan, Damian and Paul Meikle-Janney, the third owner of Dark Woods, are using their wealth of experience and involvement in the coffee industry in order to experiment with the best beans and to bring them to the coffee specialist as well as widening the appeal of great coffee to the general public. At the forefront of working with customers, we will bring these coffees to customers and tell the stories of these great coffees on a daily basis.

The partnership will be launched early in October, with a ‘bar takeover’ – 2 espresso coffees and 2 brewed coffees being offered to customers in the first week. The launch will be celebrated with an open event at 6.30pm on Thursday 8 October with coffee cupping of some of the coffees that will be featured in the future, together with some craft beers from the BAD Brewing & Distilling Company and music from The Flying Pianist.  Hope to see you there!
