Congratulations to two of Bean & Bud’s baristas, Jana and Elliott, who both passed training courses they undertook at the brilliant North Star Roastery in Leeds earlier this month.
Jana spent two days with Ollie and the team studying for her Intermediate Brewing course, passing the final exam with confidence. This qualification is certified by the SCA, and provides baristas with an in depth knowledge of the science behind brewing the perfect coffee – concentrating particularly on hand-pour brew methods such as Chemex, Aeropress and V60. Working with Q-grader Holly at North Star, Elliott undertook an Intermediate Sensory Skills course, which he passed with flying colours. This SCA certified course is designed for baristas – like Elliott – who want to expand their knowledge of coffee’s breadth of flavours and aromas. This will help Elliott, and the team here at Bean & Bud, ensure that we are buying only the very best coffees available, and beans that have the full depth of character and flavour profiles you would expect from us.
